Kenya #2, 2015
Here is a testimonial from the team leader:

August 15, 2015
Dear Holland,
We returned last week from a 2 week mission trip to Kenya. It was an amazing experience for all of us, and the culmination of months of planning. Last October our church, Village Church of Barrington, announced an “informational” meeting for anyone interested in a mission trip to Kenya. At the very first meeting the possibility of an optical program was suggested. Shortly after this meeting two team members attended the Medical Mission Conference in Louisville, KY, and met you. And the rest, as they say, is history. From our very first conversation with you, Holland, we were impressed with your organization and its stated mission. Over the following weeks and months we were encouraged, trained, and assisted as necessary. Every detail was well thought out and we soon had a team of trained optical “specialists.” With bags packed (all 6 big duffels!) and carryon bags in tow, we made the long flights and final 3 hour drive to Siaya County in western Kenya. The excellent assistance and practical advice we received from you prepared us to serve the hundreds of Kenyans who stood in line each day. We dispensed over 400 pair of prescription eyeglasses as well as 700 pair of “readers” and 500 pair of sunglasses in just 5 days of optical clinics. The remaining 1500+ pair of prescription glasses was left in the village to be used when we visit again. Any inconvenience or sacrifice on our part was more than compensated for by the smiles and looks of amazement on the faces of so many who could “see” again. More than physical sight, we continue to pray that our ministry brought spiritual sight to many. Kenya professes to be a Christian nation and there is freedom to worship and read the Bible. We pray that renewed physical sight will bring renewed spiritual sight as those who were once blind can now see to read and study God’s Word.
Attached are a few pictures to illustrate the work that you and your ministry equipped us to do. Thank you again for your commitment to this ministry and for the excellent program you offer to teams like ours.
Serving Christ with you,
The VCB Kenya Team 2015
