As you know our mission team has been visiting the villages around Somoto,
Nicaragua for many years. The eyeglass clinic is just a part of what we do,
but a very important part. In addition to providing glasses, we believe that
we are making some real progress educating the people about the importance of
eye care, including the use of hats and sunglasses. It is incredibly
rewarding when we are able to provide glasses to people who are is severe
Each year we dispense about 350 pairs of glasses. The people we see are
extremely shy and try hard to hide their emotions, but often they cannot
resist the smile that comes across their face when a pair of glasses makes a
profound difference for them. Obviously, none of this would be possible
without the equipment we get from Kendall Optometry Ministries. Over the
years we have found the equipment to be reliable and easy to use, even for
those of us with no prior experience.
Our most significant success story for 2015 was a 10 year old boy who needed a
minus ten prescription for both eyes. We had a pair of minus six glasses,
which made a huge improvement for him.
Thanks for the use of your equipment and the efficient way that everything is
I am sending several photos to you of people with their new glasses. Each
will come in a separate email because my email server doesn't like multiple
photos very well.
