The only reasons any of these dates would be cancelled would be:

1) there is no autorefractor to use in the class (out with teams),

2) Nobody signs up for the class, or

3) the trainer (Holland Kendall) is unable to attend.

None of these have ever happened. Please also note the cost of these training classes.

(1) This cost includes the $60 training manual plus $15 for lunch. There is no charge for my time to teach the class.

(2) This cost does not include the training manual (in a 1.5 inch binder) which is available for $60 plus $15 (sometimes more) for shipping.

Those who sign up for the class will be provided a link to print their own copy of the manual. This cost covers the

subscription charges for the use of WebEx which is used in the internet based training.

The cost is $60 for tuition plus $15 for lunch payable in advance. This includes an extensive training manual which alone is worth the $60. I charge nothing for my time. If you would like to have the training manual mailed to you in advance of the class the cost is $15 additional to mail via UPS. You will then only be charge for lunch.

Internet Training Class Note:

Internet training costs $15 per person plus the cost of a long distance call to get onto the voice conference. If you have free long distance then the training is only $15. It is advisable but not mandatory that everybody attending the class have the $60 training manual which costs $15 shipping and handling to mail via UPS Ground Mail making a total of $60.

KOM Internet training classes are always on Friday nights. Classes last from 7:30PM EST until 10:30 or 11 PM EST. The conference will be open up to 30 minutes early for those who want to make certain they are ready. This is advisable for first time users.

Those who take the class need to have a high speed internet connection available and access to a Windows 2000, XP, VISTA, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 or a Windows 11 computer. It also should work with a MAC running Bootcamp with Windows 10 installed. WebEx is the conference provider. Frequently teams gather in a church conference room and project the PC screen on the wall for everybody to see. Send an E-Mail to hollandkendall@kendalloptoministry.org to register for the class.

Hands-On Versus Internet Based Training.

The Hands-On training is more thorough and more interactive. Because of this more can be learned. However, the cost of travel is so much these days, we introduced internet training as an alternative. Internet training can give you a good understanding of optical principles and also the computer software KOM provides but it cannot teach you how to manually operate a lensmeter or an autorefractor which is covered in the Hands-On class. Video training are available for both of these however.

BMDMI ONLY training covers optical principles, how to operate the clinic but does not tell you how to build your inventory as this inventory is built in advance for BMDMI teams. Those who want specific BMDMI training should at least attend the afternoon session of the KOM class. Attend the whole class for the entire story.
