The only reasons any of these dates would be cancelled would be:

1) there is no autorefractor to use in the class (out with teams),

2) Nobody signs up for the class, or

3) the trainer (me) is unable to attend.

None of these have ever happened. Please also note the cost of these training classes.

The cost is $34 for tuition plus $10 for lunch payable in advance. This includes an extensive training manual which alone is worth the $34. I charge nothing for my time. If you would like to have the training manual mailed to you in advance of the class the cost is $10 additional to mail via USPS Priority mail.

Internet Training Class Note:

Internet training is free except for long distance dialing to get onto the voice conference. If you have free long distance then the training is totally free. It is advisable but not mandatory that everybody attending the class have the $34 training manual which costs $10 to mail via USPS Priority Mail making a total of $44. BMDMI training manuals come from the BMDMI Hattiesburg, Ms office.

KOM Internet training classes are always on Friday nights. BMDMI training classes (when scheduled) are always on Thursday night. No BMDMI classes are scheduled for 2009. Classes last from 7:30PM EST until 10:30 or 11 PM EST. The conference will be open up to 30 minutes early for those who want to make certain they are ready. This is advisable for first time users.

Those who take the class need to have a high speed internet connection available and access to a Windows 2000, XP or VISTA computer. Frequently teams gather in a church conference room and project the PC screen on the wall for everybody to see. Send an E-Mail to hollandkendall@kendalloptoministry.org to register for the class.

Hands-On Versus Internet Based Training.

The Hands-On training is more thorough and more interactive. Because of this more can be learned. However, the cost of travel is so much these days, we introduced internet training as an alternative. Internet training can give you a good understanding of optical principles and also the computer software KOM provides but it cannot teach you how to manually operate an lensmeter or an autorefractor which is covered in the Hands-On class. Video training are available for both of these however. The "Hands-On" BMDMI training is only taught once a year at the Regional Conference.

BMDMI ONLY internet training covers optical principles, how to operate the clinic but does not tell you how to build your inventory as this inventory is built in advance for BMDMI teams.
